Off-grid / hybrid inverters
Growatt 04 error code
Battery voltage low.
Likely causes
- Deep discharge
- Undersized battery bank
- High overnight load
Checks to run, in order
- 1Measure battery voltage at the terminals
- 2Compare load to bank capacity
- 3Check charging from PV and grid
Fixes
- Recharge the bank
- Add capacity or shift loads
- Adjust low-voltage parameters
When to escalate
If the bank cannot hold charge after a full cycle, test it under load.
Before you open the inverter
- Isolate both the AC and DC sides, then confirm the display is dead before touching terminals.
- Use insulated tools and one hand where possible. DC arcs do not self-extinguish like AC.
- If you see burnt terminals, swollen cells, leaking electrolyte or a burning smell, stop and escalate instead of resetting the fault.
